We could not get into the homestay until 3:00 pm today, so once we had checked out it was time for some bicycle maintenance. Janet’s needed the axle plate tightening, this is a result of a long term problem with the Rohloff hub which will be going back to Germany when we get back home. Mine was just a repair to the saddle, it has actually worn out.

The cycle today was mainly along the 5 a main road. Straight out of the hotel doors and turn left onto the 5.

After our breakfast of champions, porridge, we returned to the port to pick up the 194 then the R152 both follow the coast. The roads were very quiet, only a few passing cars and scooters.

We didn’t rush out today but still left at 9:00 am. Today’s route was similar to yesterday, almost 50 km on different types of road.
The first section followed Route 4, even though it is a dual carriageway we did not see very much traffic at all and in common with our visits to the 4 previously there is a shoulder wide enough to drive a car along.
Turning off the main road it was almost immediately traffic free, it went from a tarmac surface to concrete slabs to dirt track before returning to the 4 for a last short visit today.

We tried to get a nice sunrise but it was too cloudy really but it was OK.

As we found out today there are very few quiet roads on Phuket Island, everywhere is just busy.

Today we have only 40 km planned with accommodation already booked in Thai Mueang, which means an unhurried start.

It was very quiet at our resort, we woke with a start much later than normal. Being a little later didn’t matter today as we only had 50 km to cycle.

The cycle out of Hua Hin city was slow and there was a lot of heavy traffic, but it was never a concern, nice and steady.

After looking at all the options we decided to head down to the airport today. Our flight to Bangkok which for all PE teachers out there is in Thailand leaves tomorrow at 9:50 am but to get a train to the airport with our bicycles would mean catching the 5:45 am train.
