As predicted the bed had seen better days and sleeping on springs is not a restful way of spending the night. We still bounced our way out looking forward to a good days cycling.

Today was the complete opposite of yesterday, no main roads at all. To start off it was 2.5 km down to the ferry.
Kingfisher on a wire
The cycle today was mainly along the 5 a main road. Straight out of the hotel doors and turn left onto the 5.

We had a very relaxing day doing nothing, not many pictures at all. It did mean we are actually planned over a week ahead now, which is very unusual for us.
It did rain very heavily around 3:30 pm but we just watched it bounce off the road from the dry of a small restaurant.
Rain from the resturant
After the main roads of yesterday the first 15 kilometres today was beautiful cycling, small zero traffic roads. We passed a lot of palm oil plantations, a couple of very small villages and lots of cattle. A good start to the day.
Animals, birds and trees. Something for everyone.
Today was our shortest day for a while so a 9:30 am start, nice and leisurely.
A nice rustic boat and woodyard
Having stared at the map for a long time, the only way onwards was very small back roads just a dotted line on the map or highway 1. It was off on the small side roads then, we managed to stick to the route for 1.5 kilometres before we met a road closed.

After three nights in George Town it was time to wave it goodbye. A couple of kilometres through the old town area brought us back to the ferry.
Leaving George Town
After our breakfast of champions, porridge, we returned to the port to pick up the 194 then the R152 both follow the coast. The roads were very quiet, only a few passing cars and scooters.
Heading out to sea
We managed to stay awake to see in the new year, there were a few fireworks in the town but the main display was at Ao Nang Beach, too far really for us to venture. We enjoyed a quiet meal and a drink.
The alarm was set for 7:00 am so we could celebrate the New Year with family and friends back home in the UK, it seemed strange having two New Years even stranger to have one at seven in the morning.
Today we are only moving on a short distance to a hotel near to Krabi Airport, the route wandered around a little but did only use some lovely roads today with very little traffic.
