Today was a very short cycling day, in fact we went further on the Longboat crossing between islands than we cycled.
Hello Boxing Day and despite saying we would have a slow relaxed start we were still out just before 9:00 am. As our carried luggage is now a little lighter after sending some things back home, what do you do? You think about buying some more things. We had been thinking about a wireless speaker so we can listen to the radio only there is no TV channel to watch in any of the resorts or hotels we have stopped in (probably as they are always the cheap ones!) But the shop was closed, thwarted once more, we continued to the pier.
There was no sign of Santa anywhere here, a normal working day in a country of Buddhists. The new year is when everyone celebrates in Thailand.
Today is going to be a touristy day, probably the most touristy day of our trip. After our breakfast we walked to the end of the street where the Bangkok Sky Train station is (Nana), we purchased two day tickets (120 bhat) as we are using it later as well.
It was a lot warmer last night, no risk of frost.
Today was easy cycling, around 15 km to Fukuda Port on Shodoshima Island the a ferry to Himeji and a 6 km cycle to our hotel.
No frost last night but still cold, you have to say a warm sleeping bag is worth its weight in gold.
After a very peaceful night it was lovely to wake up to the sound of waves lapping on the beach.
As we had to be at the port by 5.00 pm to put our bicycles in a container (the ship leaves at 9.00 pm) we had a whole day to relax. So we shopped a little, I replaced a pair of socks which had just worn out and all of a sudden the day had gone.
After our supplied by guesthouse breakfast of cereal, toast and eggs we had a walk to the International Ferry Terminal. This is around a mile from the guesthouse.
