Johor Bahru, our last night in Malaysia Thursday 28th February

As we set off for our last full days cycling in Malaysia, we looked up and there was no blue, just these grey / white things called clouds. Our first overcast day in a long while.

We liked this sign

There was very little green scenic cycling today, just busy roads through a sprawling city, plus more hills but nothing as steep as yesterday.

Busy roads

And more

Below is the old Johor state administration building, Bangunan Sultan Ibrahim, completed in 1940 by the British Colonial Government but is now a museum.

Shopping mall and traffic

Following a route parallel as much as possible to the motorway, the only problem was an unexpected dead end which was soon bypassed. Soon we were right in the city centre and a small piece of creative cycling (wrong way up one way streets) later and we checked in to CIQ@Jalan Trus. The room is small but clean and a very short walk from City Square and Komtar JBCC two huge shopping malls which happened to be where we ate our meal today.

We spent some time sorting how to get bicycles on the correct road for getting across the bridge to Singapore, it is a little bit convoluted, but you basically follow the motorscooters.

The Strava route today.
