Today should have been cycling mainly away from the main road but it didn’t turn out that way. It started very well, a lovely traffic free (well apart from the scooters) minor road. Then the route so meticulously planned last night took us up a red clay track which after the rain did not look inviting so we detoured around this only to go onto another track and worse still the next road just did not exist!

A good track surface

The first rice fields we have seen
So we made our way back to the 416 main road, not busy and it does have a wide shoulder but not as nice to cycle along. We ended up following this for the rest of the day.

The 416 snakes away
The palm trees all but vanished today, only plantations of rubber trees and some fields of rice, the first we have seen in Thailand.

General view from the road
Satun is a small city, it is the provincial capital. Here we booked in to the Bandahara Boutique Guesthouse, again a clean nice room.
