.It is so nice here with Antonio and Mara that we will spend a day looking around the town. A most leisurely start indeed, having a beans, cooked dried beef and tortillia breakfast prepared by Mara. It was lovely, I would rate it similar to our bacon, sausage and egg breakfast.
We also did our laundry, again thank you Antonio and Mara. Around 11.00 am we cycled down into town. It was the old part of town we visited, this is around the harbour area. There are more resturants and bars than you could visit in a week let alone a day, we sat on the sea front for quite a while just taking in the surroundings.
There were a lot of seabirds including pelicans.
Here we did manage to get our inner tubes (and of course Janet managed to get another pair of cycling gloves) the cycle shop was quite well stocked.
After our strolling around the police had started to block off many of the roads (nothing to do with us), today Ensenada celebrates Dia de los Muertos, the day of the dead. We waited for the parade to pass, many people dressing up in “their dead” clothing to parade in including children.
The cycle back to Antonio and Mara’s house proved to be non traumatic today but still very steep, the picture does not really show how steep it actually is.
Our hosts prepared a lovely tea for us including a special beer. We had fish tacos including salsa, shredded cabbage, guacamole and salad. Again it was lovely, a very tasty way to eat fish.
After dark, we were invited to take a drive out with Antonio and his family. Returning to the fountain area where it was now a brightly lit almost firework like display.
Further along some sealions had taken up residence on a jetty for the night.
We had a little tour of Ensenada by car, it is a lovely town..
Finally we paid a visit to a taco stand where we had pork tacos (with coriander this time) they were lovely.
Our hosts Antonio and Mara.
And their dog.
