First off I must tell you of the momentus occasion of the diary book being filled and replaced by one purchased in Yellowstone.
A very cold start, at 7000 ft the temperature drops quite rapidly at night, the whole tent was covered in frost. No attempt was made to dry it, just wrap it up and into the drysac it goes.
Today we aim to cycle 33 miles to the small town of Boulder, it is all on pavement with no real hills, sounds easy. We cycled down a comfortably wide shoulder and never felt threatened by poor car driving (just the usual poor cycling).
At 9 miles we passed Daniel (a place not a person, when do we ever pass anything?). Then the road designer with a ruler took over and we cycled along a straight road for the remaining 11 miles jnto Pinedale.
We cycled on through Pinedale pausing for a coffee and hot chocolate at the Soul Cafe. Whilst there I had them check for a soul and it is still there despite me being a teacher.
The final 12 miles proved as easy as the first 21, we arrived in Boulder just around lunch time. I am not sure if it qualifies as a town, it is a gas station, motel, convenience store and resturant all in one with a few surrounding houses.
The campground is about three quarters of a mile further south. It is actually a grassy site unlike the usual dusty pebble strewn ones we usually see. Time for a shower and doing laundry (wearing one T shirt all week is not wonderful personal hygiene).
On the roadside we saw a herd of Antelope (Pronghorn), which are the second fastest mammal (only a cheetah beats them) which did stop still long enough for me to photograph.
There were also a couple of Osprey posts as well with fully grown birds on now.
On the site there are fine views of the Wind River Mountains, I think this is a name to set you imagination running, wonderful. Unlike the Tetons named after a woman’s chest parts!
Hi,
OMG how amazing you filled it and I’m loving the new bear book. Just catching up on your adventures.
