Our flight was at 1:15 Sunday 24th July from Gatwick airport, we booked into the Premier Inn North (next to the terminal) the night before, which did give a stress free journey thanks Emily for a smooth ride, Laura for the musical entertainment and mom for being there. We had a nice evening meal (plenty of wine) and a very leisurely all you can eat breakfast to set us up for the journey.
Booking in was easy all our luggage and bikes went into the oversize check in, (Martin was allowed in despite all the end of term cakes).
It was time for farewells, hugs all round.
The customs check proved to be no problem just a little queueing was needed once or twice, then we were in to the departure lounge. Two extortionately expensive bottles of water later we were at Gate 50 ready to go.
Then came nine hours of in flight entertainment, fun and excitement, need we say more? A smooth but long (I may have already mentioned this) flight later and we landed in Calgary at 4:30 local time. Again customs presented no problems just the obligatory waiting and lastly collecting our luggage, only one of the boxes showing any damage (amazement occurred at this point).
We had booked the Banff Transporter at 6:30 pm which took us to, surprisingly, Banff. Dropping us outside our B&B Tan – Y – Bont for 8:30 (or 3:30 am Black Country Time!).
A collapse into bed and rapidly to sleep.
We woke early and took a quick stroll into Banff.
